Burbot
Lota lota
Also called eelpout or lawyer, burbot are the only freshwater cod in North America and a prized target of winter ice anglers across the northern United States and Canada. Most active in the coldest months when other species shut down, they offer a unique fishing experience and surprisingly excellent table fare.
