Hybrid Striped Bass
Morone chrysops × Morone saxatilis
A hatchery-produced cross between white bass and striped bass, the hybrid striper (also called wiper) combines the aggressive feeding of white bass with the size and power of stripers. Stocked in reservoirs across more than 30 states, wipers are fast-growing, hard-fighting, and thrive in warm water that pure stripers cannot tolerate. They are a staple of warm-water reservoir fishing nationwide.
