Red Drum
Sciaenops ocellatus
Known as redfish across the Gulf Coast and red drum along the Atlantic, this copper-bronzed powerhouse is one of the most popular inshore saltwater game fish in America. From the marshes of Louisiana to the flats of Florida and the Carolina surf, redfish are pursued year-round by sight fishermen, kayak anglers, and surf casters alike. Their willingness to eat, incredible fight in shallow water, and excellent flavor have made them an American fishing icon.
