Saugeye
Sander vitreus × Sander canadensis
A hatchery-produced hybrid of walleye and sauger, the saugeye combines the best traits of both parents: faster growth than sauger with better tolerance of warm, turbid water than walleye. Stocked extensively in Ohio, Oklahoma, Kansas, and other states, saugeye have become the backbone of many inland reservoir fisheries. They fight hard, grow fast, and taste outstanding.
