Spotted Seatrout
Cynoscion nebulosus
The bread-and-butter inshore saltwater species of the Gulf Coast and South Atlantic, spotted seatrout (also called speckled trout) are found from Texas to the Carolinas in virtually every bay, estuary, and grass flat. They are arguably the most widely targeted inshore species in the Southeast, offering year-round action, reliable bites, and delicate white flesh. A trophy gator trout over 25 inches is a milestone achievement for coastal anglers.
